Why Fake Sellers Exist
Any buying system with direct payment is vulnerable to bad actors. The Litbuy Spreadsheet is no exception. Because sellers are independent and there is no central platform enforcing rules, a small number of fraudulent sellers try to exploit new buyers. The good news is that they are easy to spot if you know what to look for. The community is vigilant, and information travels fast.
Payment Red Flags
The biggest warning sign is a seller who insists on untraceable payment methods. Friends and Family transfers, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, and gift cards are all methods that offer no recourse. A legitimate seller will accept PayPal Goods and Services or another protected method. If a seller claims "PayPal fees are too high" or "I only take crypto," walk away. This is the most common trap, and it is also the easiest to avoid.
Communication Red Flags
Legitimate sellers answer questions clearly and promptly. Fake sellers often give vague answers, dodge specific questions, or pressure you to pay quickly. If a seller says "This price is only for today" or "I have 5 other buyers interested," that is manipulation. Real sellers do not need to create artificial urgency. They have steady business from repeat customers.
QC and Transparency Red Flags
A seller who refuses to send QC photos is immediately suspicious. QC is a standard part of the Litbuy process. Every reputable seller offers it. If a seller says "I do not do QC" or "Trust me, it is good," that is a red flag. Similarly, if a seller sends you generic photos from the internet instead of actual photos of your item, they are cutting corners or worse.
Community Verification
Before you contact any seller, search their name on Reddit. Look for threads that mention them. If they have been around for a while, you will find reviews. If they are completely absent, proceed with caution. New sellers are not necessarily bad, but they are unproven. Start with a small order if you want to test them. Never give a new seller your biggest order on the first try.
Trust Your Instincts
If something feels off, it probably is. The Litbuy community is large and active. There are always multiple sellers offering similar items. You do not need to take a risk on someone who makes you uncomfortable. Choose a seller with a visible track record, clear communication, and protected payment acceptance. The peace of mind is worth a slightly higher price.
